Good week and Single Moms

Ok, so we had a really good week this week. We started implementing the Babywise schedule, where you feed the baby, them keep them awake for 30-45 mins, then put them down for their nap. We do this every 2-3 hours. It has really helped Jude to sleep better (and cry less), therefore I get to sleep some, too. Seriously, before this last week, I thought I was going to go out of my mind. I mean, I knew this whole mom/new baby thing was going to be hard, but no one talks about how hard it really is. There were times I wanted to die, literally! I just kept repeating Philippians 4:13 over and over. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Thankfully things are much better and I'm learning who Jude is and what his cries mean. The next goal will be getting him to sleep through the night, of which I'm all about. :)

Also, I've had recurring thoughts about this since I had Jude. I really have a new respect for single moms. I don't know how they do it. It's hard enough doing this with Ross helping out, I don't know if I could do it alone. I am so thankful for my husband and for him being such an awesome dad. So, hats off to you single moms out there!

And of course it wouldn't be right if I didn't post any new pictures of my little man...

I thought this picture of Ross and Jude's feet was SO cute!
Here he is holding the paci!
And then he fell asleep, but still was holding onto the paci. I think he was saving it for later. :)
And I finally got a picture with my guy. I didn't say it was the best picture, though.

Bath time

Ross gave Jude his first real bath today! He's only had sponge baths up until now. I think mostly he just didn't know what to think, the look on his face in the third picture really shows it!

Post bath, in mommy's arms....
Also, Aunt Mary and Uncle Sammie came today to see Jude for the first time. It was a really sweet time.

Baby Genius

Well, we took Jude to the doctor today because he's been having some tummy trouble. The doc said it was totally normal, that he probably has colic or whatever, and gave us some things to try. On another note, he weighed in at 9lbs 6oz today! The doctor's eyebrows raised up real high and he said, I quote "what are you feeding him, steak? That must be some good milk." ha! Apparently he couldn't believe Jude had gained that much weight. :) I'm so happy my boy is growing well!

Also, another really awesome thing happened today. Ross' mom stayed with us last night (and tonight) to let me get some sleep, it's been a REALLY rough week and I've been so exhausted because Jude hasn't been sleeping. Ok, I'm rambling. Anyway, that's not the awesome thing I'm talking about (although that is very awesome and sweet of her)...she said that while Jude was in her lap, he smiled really big and totally laughed! I don't know if babies can or are supposed to laugh this early, but I thought it was pretty awesome! Of course, I was a little jealous that I missed it. And Ross said that Jude laughed the other day and I missed that one too! But, just a minute ago, he totally laughed again and I got to hear it this time! It was the sweetest thing ever.
Ross' mom's speculation is that Jude is a baby genius. I think I might just have to agree.

And, of course it wouldn't be right if I didn't post any new pictures of him. I want to photo him all the time!

I could stare at this kid all day long.

The many faces of Jude...

Here are some pictures I took of Jude today. He's a man of many faces!

He does smile some, but I haven't been able to catch it on my camera yet. Believe me, as soon as I do, I will share it with the world!

Can you tell I'm proud??? :)

Daddy and Jude say hello!

And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude

So, I am finally getting around to posting a blog about our son, Jude Michael. I have been putting it off, shame on me!

Here he is, Jude, born on February 21, 2008 at 9:20am. He was 7lbs 1oz and 20.5 inches long.

He's got frog legs! Apparently that's how he was in the womb, but they have since come down and look normal. :) He's such a joy to have, but I tell you...we are not getting much sleep! I hear it gets better though.

This is how he likes to sleep, with his arms up!

I just love this kid. I am so proud of my family.
